Frequently asked questions

What is an industrial filtration?

Filtration may be defined as the separation of particles from a fluid by passage through a permeable medium characterized by its filtration properties of permeability and retention.

Which are technical fabrics for the filtration?

For cake filtration, textiles woven of cotton or synthetic fibers are by far the commonest type of medium. Primarely technical fabrics manufactured by FINSA are polyamide (PA), polypropilen (PP) y polyester (PES).
Yarn types: Monofilament, Multifilament, Staple fiber.
Weave types: Plain, Twill, Satin.

Which type of filter fabric is an appropriate for my process?

In order to provide correct solutions for the industrial filtration, FINSA values all parameters of the filtration process for determining the most appropriate type of yarn, fabric, pore size and necessary weave. Before selecting a cloth, must be considered, such as: pressure drop requirements across the cloth, along with the fluid’s temperature, viscosity, and specific gravity. Flow rates, size and nature of particulate matter to be removed, and potencial corrosion problems must also be evaluated to determine the proper type of cloth, weave, size, and shape needed.

What does woven cloth mean?

The yarn are woven into fabrics by differents weaves, for example, plain weave (one over, one under), or more complex weaves such as twill or satin, these being perhaps the most common weaves for filtration purposes. The weave has an effect on the filtration efficiency and the general performance of the filter cloth.

What does non-woven cloth mean?

Non-wovens are fibrous structures produced by processes other that weaving. They are usually bonded by hot melt processes or by application of a chemical binding compound. Non-woven have a much longer surface area than woven structures. They have many pore of smaller size an, therefore, a much longer filtering capacity. Their elements is the fiber as opposed to the much larger and denser yarn in the cloth. Consequently, they are capable handing a much larger volume flow at comparable of even better clarification.

Which information should I provide for receiving a quotation?

General characteritics of the current filter cloth or filtration process characteristics and drawing / dimensions of the filter equipment.

Which type of cleaning can be applied to the filter cloths?

Depending on the composition of the filter cloth, it can be washed with an appropriate pH or temperature. Contact our Technical departmenr for more information.

How to extend the life of a filter media?

There is no just one answer, No hay una respuesta única, should be studied in depth the conditions of the process. Please, contact our technical departmenr for more information. Recommendations: realize a good cleaning of filter cloths, avoid to dry them up, avoid abrasion or chemical atack according to the polymer.

Is it possible to conduct a filtration laboratory test?

FINSA has a laboratory with the necessary equipment to perform the appropriate tests. Please, contact us to evaluate the cost, necesary quantity of a product, etc.
